Liverpool doctor says booze is causing dementia in young people June 17, 2010

An article in the Liverpool Echo states that young people in Liverpool are developing signs of dementia because they are drinking too much too young. http://www.liverpoolecho.co.uk/liverpool-news/local-news/2010/06/17/liverpool-doctor-says-booze-is-causing-dementia-in-young-people-100252-26669052/ Dr Steve Hood, a consultant at Fazakerley Hospital, said he is seeing increasing numbers of patients in their 20s with neurological and mental disorders.
Should this surprise anyone? Stronger and cheaper beer, longer licensing hours, alcopops, shirt advertising, the UK ‘macho’ culture and lying politicians.
I like a drink. Hover around the 20 units mark per week. But it will never be my master. And thank God someone is stating the obvious: “Alcohol is far too cheap and is marketed in a very aggressive way.”
For “marketed in a very agressive way” include all kinds of pills, junk food, fags, sex, trivia, violence, ignorance and lies. More Spiritual Care Needed June 1, 2010

The Royal College of Nursing surveyed over 4,000 nurses in the UK on whether they thought they were always able to meet the spiritual needs of patients. Only 5% thought they could. 80% of nurses wanted spiritual care to become a core subject within nursing and to be taught in nurse education. 90% of nurses felt that spiritual care led to a comprehensive improvement in the quality of nursing care.
94% of nurses also believe that spirituality was nothing to do with going to a place of worship.

Death is Incurable May 7, 2010

A new report by a group of scientists has proved that death is incurable. There is no way of stopping your gradual [sometimes rapid] decline from being healthy to complete collapse and death.
Forget the fact that our consumption of environmental toxins has gone off the scale, that our minds are being fed fear daily, our brains are being scrambled by mobile phones and electromagnetic radiation. No, these don’t count at all.
And forget also the benefits of exercise, consumption of organic food, having supportive family and friends, a positive outlook and alternative and complementary therapies. Waste of time.
Death is incurable. Give up now, go out and regret voting, do the okey-cokey and turn around.

What to do with your fears? April 26, 2010

How do you deal with any fears that come up? The most common ways most of us deal with them are 1) to deny them, 2) to distract ourselves and 3) to indulge in them.
I’m sure most of you know that persistent fears become manifest in our bodies, although many can hang around in our waking consciousness, preventing any kind of ‘normality.’ For many people, illness or dis-ease is the primary route of dealing with fears. And if you are not fearful for your health or worry about having bad breath, switch on your television!
Maybe the punchline is now obvious. Yes, you’ve guessed it, to let go of illness, playing the victim, reduce the number of healthy and unhealthy distractions, we must face our fears.
And when did they begin? Generations ago, a few past lives? A
cknowledge them, their origins, your journey to here, trust God and let go.

I would like to think that the sexual abuse of children is one of the worst things that happens in the world, and anyone in authority who covers up for the perpetrators is almost as bad as they are. So, when we have evidence [and I mean real, cast iron evidence] that it is going on at the very top of our society, it is the duty of everyone to inform as many others as possible.
We have several cancers in our society. We have vacuous, self-obsessed, meaningless ’celebrities’ served up as role models for children. We have lying and deceitful politicians. We have corrupt church leaders, with their sycophantic apologists springing up like weeds everywhere. I could go on, because the list is endless. The biggest crime of all is that the same people who form these cancers are the same ones telling us that is inevitable, it is all down to human nature.
In truth, it is their nature, and one they wish to foster in the population at large. But it is isn’t working. decent people, who these liars refer to in their soundbites, are waking up.
So, hold your own existing and aspiring politicians to account and ask them what they are doing about the Hollie Greig case, something guaranteed to flush out the abusers and the scum who masquerade as our ‘leaders.’ Go here, http://justice4hollie.blogspot.com/ and let us rid society of one of its worse ills.

The Election. A chance for ‘journalists’ and news ‘anchors’ [watch that spelling] to get excited. A chance for us mere mortals to have a stab at leaning one way or another depending which soundbite of the day tempts us a bit nearer to the ‘secret’ ballot on polling day. I’ve voted Labour all my life, simply because a society based on wealth and privilege used to get strengthened by one party, and then loosened up a bit by the ‘reds’. Of course, since ’New’ Labour it’s got worse. New Labour stands for wars, deceit, deregulation of the banks, John Prescott and a few rather good national schemes to help disadvantaged people. New [as eternally old] Tory stands for chasing defenceless animals with pairs or packs of dogs.
And, as impressionist Rory Bremner said this morning: ‘I can’t do a convincing Nick Clegg, but neither can Nick Clegg.’
So, it’s a vote for the hares and the foxes or abstention. With any luck, we’ll get the kind of voting levels the USA gets, and, how soon the rigged elections?
Thank God the world isn’t in their hands. More shocking revelations and collapse of the old order daily. A 100% swing towards sanity and compassion.
