The Royal College of Nursing surveyed over 4,000 nurses in the UK on whether they thought they were always able to meet the spiritual needs of patients. Only 5% thought they could. 80% of nurses wanted spiritual care to become a core subject within nursing and to be taught in nurse education. 90% of nurses felt that spiritual care led to a comprehensive improvement in the quality of nursing care.
94% of nurses also believe that spirituality was nothing to do with going to a place of worship.
Fabulous! How the world is changing. And you don’t get spiritual care out of a bottle, or from a needle. Nor can Big Pharma patent it, though they will probably try. The full article is here – http://www.healthypages.co.uk/newsitem.php?news=6279

Truth and the Light April 28, 2010

We all know that most things in life are subjective, and that there a few universal truths. These truths resonate instantly, need no justification. They are not beliefs, they are a knowing. And yet beware those who tell you only their truth is the truth.
Einstein, one of our greatest spiritual teachers, once asked ‘Is the universe a friendly place?’ If it isn’t, pass me the bucket for the cure, the pill and five litres of diet soda.
How does the light manifest? through our feelings, and when we are silent? As a friendly face, a ‘bolt from the blue,’ an unexpected opportunity. The light [to me] is exactly that. When it shines in the darkest corner of abuse, corruption, hate and deception. As it is doing now. Here’s but one example http://globalresearch.ca/index.php?context=va&aid=18874. Some friends have told me the next ‘institutions’ are councils.
Where would we be without the light? God only knows.

It could be said that we are a collection of our beliefs. Our response to ourselves, to others and the world in general is always underpinned by what we believe; of course, they are mostly subconscious.
At worst, we can descend into a pit of conditioned responses, like Pavlov’s dogs. This state is the goal of those who would manipulate us, because it becomes cheap and easy for them. None of us are swayed by images and words about sex, power, revenge, glory, war, fame, masculinity, femininity, ‘winning’ and ‘losing’ are we?
If all we are is a rag-bag of conditioned responses, there’s not much hope for the world is there?
We are more than all this. Take time out to go inside and get in touch with who you really are. The more you realise you are limited only by your imagination and by your conditioning; by the voice inside that reminds you to stay small, you a step way from becoming the magnificent person you were meant to be.
What is the greatest motivation of all? To serve that which is bigger than ourselves. and what is bigger than ourselves? The whole of humanity. And what do we have within us? God, and what is greater than God?
To serve others is to serve God, to serve God is to serve ourselves.
